July 12, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
St. Cloud Rox News Release
Rochester, MN--- Visiting Mayo Field for the first time this season, the Rox split Saturday's doubleheader with the Honkers as the teams made up a rained out game that was originally scheduled to be played on June 16th.
GAME 1----
In a makeup from a game that was originally scheduled to be played at Joe Faber Field, the Rox instead were the home team in Rochester and defeated the Honkers by a final score of 10-2.
The Rox were the home team in game number one, and Joe Tietjen (UNC Asheville) got the offense going in the first inning with a 3-run blast over the left field wall.
Lucas Gilbreath was dominant on the mound for the Rox, as he got the start and pitched 6 of the 7 innings. He allowed just 4 hits while striking out 5 in 6 shutout innings for St. Cloud.
Hanging onto a 3-0 lead heading into the 4th inning, Webb Bobo (SE Louisiana) continued his recent tear at the plate, as he launched a 2-run bomb over the short field in right fence to pad the Rox cushion.
Michael Strem (Boston College) added a solo homer in the fifth inning, his first of the season for the Rox.
With a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the 6th, John Sansone (Florida St.) hit his 3rd homerun of the season for St. Cloud, and the Rox led 10-0.
The Honkers would add 2 meaningless runs in the top of the 7th, as the Rox took game one in Rochester by a final score of 10-2.
Joe Tietjen was the SC Times player of the game for St. Cloud. Tietjen was 2-4 with 4 RBI's in the Rox victory. For more Rox coverage, please visit www.sctimes.com

Brandon Benson (Georgia College) gave the Rox the lead in the 2nd inning, as he continued the home run party with a 2-run shot to left field.
The Honkers bats came alive in the 4th, as they scored at least 2 runs in each of their last 3 half innings, and took a commanding 11-2 lead.
St. Cloud was unable to match the Honkers offensive explosion, dropping game two to the Honkers as Rochester earned a split in the doubleheader.
