Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs fell to the first-place Kenosha Kingfish 9-3 last night to snap their five-game winning streak. The Bullfrogs will look to build a new streak tonight with ace Garrett Harrison on the mound.
The Kingfish defeated Green Bay for the first time in three tries this season and scored in four consecutive innings after a scoreless first. Kenosha scored three runs in the second inning with a two-run home run by T.J. Nichting and a sacrifice fly for Zach Weigel.
With Robb Paller at the plate in the third inning for the Bullfrogs, Brendon Allen balked home Paul Jacobson, followed by a run-scoring single for Danny Rosenbaum to cut Kenosha's lead to 3-2.
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the inning, Jason Scholl singled to score Alex Borglin.
Kenosha extended its lead with three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 9-2 advantage. After a single and a pair of walks to load the bases in the fifth inning, Connor Donovan walked Eric Filia to score a run. Three batters later with the bases still full, Scholl walked to score Weigel, and Borglin came home on a wild pitch by Adam Rude.
Weigel singled in the fifth inning, and a mishandle by Brian Celsi allowed Mitch Gasbarro to score. Jeremy Vasquez's RBI groundout scored Weigel and gave the Kingfish a seven-run lead.
The Bullfrogs plated the final run of the game in the sixth when Celsi scored on a wild pitch.
Green Bay will turn to its top starter Harrison, who has not given up a run over his last three starts, including a 6 1/3 shutout performance against Kenosha on June 22. He allowed three hits and struck out two batters in the 8-1 Green Bay victory.
Kenosha will start P.J. Schuster Jr. today, making his ninth start of the year. He comes into the game with a 3-2 record and a 3.32 earned run average in 46 innings pitched. Schuster last pitched on July 6 against the La Crosse Loggers and allowed three runs on seven hits and two strikeouts in a 4-3 Kenosha win.
Game time is at 4:05 p.m. today at Simmons Field.
Green Bay is in the midst of a six-game road trip. The Bullfrogs return to Joannes Stadium on July 18 for a two-game series with the Kingfish before the All-Star break.
Single game tickets are on sale now. Visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to purchase tickets. The Bullfrogs' business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
