Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - An old school pitching duel was on hand at Simmons Field Sunday afternoon. Garrett Harrison and the Green Bay Bullfrogs had just a little more than P.J Schuster and the Kingfish to win 7-1.
Schuster was in tiptop shape for this game, slinging seven innings of four hit ball to go along with four strikeouts for the Kingfish (33-16). The native of Willowbrook, Illinois threw four three up, three down innings, seemingly cruising through the Bullfrogs lineup. The Bullfrogs put the first run up on the scoreboard in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead.
The score stayed that way until the seventh inning when the Bullfrogs finally chased Schuster. With one out, Mikey Duarte hit a double and Matthew De la Rosa drove Duarte home with a two run shot on the very next pitch. That was it for Schuster, pulled in favor of J.R. Holloway. The Bullfrogs chipped on three more runs in the inning thanks in part to four walks and an error. The Kingfish finally got on the board in the bottom half of the seventh with an Alex Borglin sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-1. Green Bay added on one more run in the eighth inning to complete the scoring on the day.
Garrett Harrison was impressive on the mound for Green Bay (30-17). The lefty went six and two thirds innings with one run given up on four hits. The lefty struck out four Kingfish batters and improved to 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA on the year. Jake Stolley worked the final two plus innings to end the game for the Bullfrogs.
At the plate for Green Bay, De la Rosa homered and drove in three RBIs. Robb Paller and Brian Celsi also had RBIs for the Bullfrogs. Brody Westmoreland and Mitch Gasbarro registered two hits for the Kingfish in the game.Â
The Kingfish hit the road for two games away from home starting on Tuesday. They return home Thursday, July 16th on Gateway Technical College Go Green Night and Summertime St. Patty's Day Celebration. The Kingfish will wear green uniforms that will be auctioned off during the game. Kenosha News presents a performance by XPOGO. It is also Wisconsin Lottery Night at the ballpark.
