St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Rox took advantage of 15 hits as a team, and the pitching of Reese Gregory and Trevor Charpie to come away with the victory Saturday night as they defeated the Duluth Huskies 10-3 at Joe Faber Field. With the win, and losses from Willmar and Mankato Saturday night, the Rox (13-10, 32-26) are now a half-game back in the second half standings of the North Division with 14 games left to play.
For the Rox, the offense picked up three runs in the first inning coming off four hits to jump out to a quick lead. They added four more in the fourth, as Will Craig brought in the final three runs of the inning with a three-run home run to left field to give the Rox a 7-0 lead through four.
The lead was enough for starting pitcher Reese Gregory to work with, as he threw the first six innings and struck out six batters while allowing two earned runs to earn the victory (5-2). Trevor Charpie took over in the seventh inning for Gregory and earned the save (2) with three innings of relief as he allowed the final run and struck out three.
Will Craig led the way offensively for the Rox with a 2-for-5 effort at the plate, including a solo home run in the sixth to go with his three-run homer as he finished the night with five RBIs and two runs scored. Past Craig, five other Rox players finished with multiple-hit nights as Seth Heck ended with three hits, and Eric Loxtercamp and Boo Vazquez each totaled two while scoring two runs apiece.
The Rox and the Huskies will now finish the series at Joe Faber Field tomorrow night at 5:05 p.m. before the Rox travel to Rochester on Monday for one game with the Honkers and come back to St. Cloud for a six-game home stand next week. Tomorrow is Rox Cereal Bowl Giveaway for the first 500 fans, presented by Wells Fargo, and it is also a Coborn's Kids Day, where kids have the opportunity to run the bases and collect autographs on the field after the game.
Single game tickets can be purchased 24 hours a day at www.stcloudrox.com, by calling (320) 240-9798 or by visiting the Rox ticket office located at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
