Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, WI - The Madison Mallards (12-12, 30-26) scored three runs in the fourth inning, two coming on catcher Austin Barr's (Stanford) RBI single, but the Mallards fell to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-11, 27-29) tonight in Madison by a score of 6-4.

The Mallards brought three runs home in the fourth, in part due to Barr's single which scored left fielder Logan Regnier (Central Michigan) and first baseman Pete Alonso (Florida). Regnier had reached on a single, and the new addition to the Mallards made an instant impact, going 2-for-3 with one run in his first game back with the Mallards after playing ten games for the club in the beginning of the summer.

The Mallards added one run in the fifth when center fielder Will Krug (Illinois) scored on a throwing error after Regnier had singled.

Mallards righty Sterling Sharp (Eastern Michigan) tossed five innings, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out four in the loss.

The Bullfrogs runs came sporadically, scoring one in the first, two in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Green Bay was led by second baseman Matt Beaty (Belmont), who went 2-for-5, scoring once and adding an RBI groundout in the fifth inning.

Green Bay hurler Zac Westcott (Nova Southeastern) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits in his second start while striking out five to get the win.

Tomorrow, the Mallards wrap up their three game home stand against the Bullfrogs at 5:05 pm.
