Rox sign free agent RHP Steven Richard - official as of July 11, 2011
Richard spent the previous five seasons in the Seattle farm system after being drafted in the eighth round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. He reached the Double-A level in 2010 and was released by the Mariners in 2011 after compiling an 0-1 record with a 3.68 ERA in seven and 1/3 innings pitched with the Jackson Generals (AA - Southern League).
In six seasons with the Seattle organization, Richard totaled a record of 23-13 with a 4.19 ERA over 292 and 1/3 innings pitched, while striking out 276 and walking 130. The native of Billerica, Mass. will be the latest addition to the Rox bullpen staff, joining righthanders Jake Hale and Jimmer Kennedy along with lefties Mark Rosen, Brad Hertzler and Daniel Schmidt.
The Rox roster stands at 21 active players (11 pitchers, 10 position players).
