LA CROSSE, WI - The St. Cloud Rox (37-22) took game one of a two-game series against the La Crosse Loggers (33-26) with a 10-3 final score, Thursday, August 3rd. The Rox hold one of the top records across the Northwoods League this season.

The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Wes Burton. Burton worked one of the best outings for a Rox pitcher this season, striking out 11 batters, a single-game high in 2023, and giving up just one earned run over 6.0 innings pitched. In eight appearances this season, Burton has a 4.94 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 27.1 innings pitched, giving just 15 hits.

Jackson Hauge reached base four times, with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Hauge leads the Rox with 66 hits and 48 RBI over 53 games. Sawyer Smith had a home run and a single, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Smith has seven hits, including a double and a home run, with eight RBI over his last five games. Jose Gonzalez had his first multi-hit game for St. Cloud with two hits. Gonzalez also tallied two walks, three runs scored, and an RBI in the victory.

Daniel Caylor pitched 1.0 inning, holding La Crosse scoreless with a strikeout. Gavin Jacobsen worked through 0.2 innings in his 4thappearance this season. Kahler Key made his Rox debut, working out of a jam with a strikeout. Chris Brown made his 13thappearance of the season in the 9thinning, striking out three batters.
