Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (July 11, 2008) - The Brockton Rox pounded out ten runs on 13 hits in a 10-1 victory over the New Jersey Jackals on Friday night at Yogi Berra Stadium. RHP Stevie Delabar was fantastic, allowing a single run on five hits while striking out six in eight innings to pick up his second win.

The game was scoreless heading in to the fifth when the wheels fell off for the Jackals. Brockton scored six times on six hits and were aided by two New Jersey errors in the top of the fifth. The inning started with two infield singles by C Lee Rubin and SS Dominic Ramos. The next two at-bats resulted in errors; one each by SS Casey Gordon and 2B Bryant Nelson and brought home a pair of Rox runs. After Jackals' starter RHP Juan Done struck out 3B Phillip Cuadrado for the second out, the Rox racked up four straight hits, including doubles by 1B Jason Colson and CF Ervin Alcantara to cap the six-run inning.

The Rox were back at it again in the sixth inning against Done. Three of the first four batters reached, and Done left after Cuadrado's RBI single made it 7-0 Brockton. The new pitcher, RHP Ryan Pacyna, did not fare any better. He allowed a sacrifice fly to RF Jud Thigpen and then a two-run home run to Colson to make it 10-0. Colson finished 3-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.

The support was more than enough for Delabar, whose only blemish was a solo home run to 3B Chris Kelly when the game was already far out of reach. He improved to 2-1 on the season and dropped his ERA to 2.67.

The Rox and Jackals finish the series on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium. LHP Chris McDonough (4-3, 5.58 ERA) will face New Jersey LHP Isaac Pavlik (3-2, 4.01 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
