Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals earned a split of their four-game series against the Brockton Rox with an 8-3 victory on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium.

For the third straight night, the Rox got on the scoreboard first when DH Francisco Lebron doubled home RF Jud Thigpen in the second inning to give the Rox a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, the Jackals answered with two run of their own. DH Luke Allen and C Matt Lauderdale led off with back-to-back singles before LF Andrew Larsen laced a double to center to score Allen and tie the score at 1-1. After Larsen advanced to third on the throw to the plate, RF Marcos Rodriguez hit a grounder to second, which enabled Larsen to cross the plate to put New Jersey on top 2-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Jackals struck again when 1B Juan Tejeda lifted his team-leading eighth home run of the season to left field to give New Jersey a 3-1 advantage.

In the top of the fifth inning the Rox countered when SS Dominic Ramos led off with a single. The next batter, 2B Melvin Falu hit a line drive to center field which tipped off the glove of Jackals CF Zack Smithlin, enabling Ramos to score and placing Falu at third base. One batter later, LF Vic Davilla grouned out to first base, plating Falu to tie the score at 3-3. However, in the bottom of the frame, New Jersey struck back when 3B Chris Kelly launched his seventh homer of the season, a two-run shot to left field to put the Jackals back on top 5-3.

New Jersey added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three more times on a run-scoring single by 2B Tommy Murphy and a two-run double off the bat of SS Bryant Nelson to cap the scoring at 8-3.

Jackals starter Isaac Pavlik (4-2) earned the win, allowing three runs - two earned - on nine hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Chris McDonough started for the Rox and allowed three runs on eight hits, but exited after Brockton tied the game in the top of the fifth. Rox reliever Ryan Williams (0-1) took the loss after entering in the bottom of the fifth and surrendering five runs before being removed from the game with no outs in the sixth. Offensively for New Jersey, Larsen went 3-4 with an RBI. For Brockton, Falu collected two doubles in a 3-5 night at the plate.

The Jackals enjoy an off-day on Sunday before traveling to Atlantic City to begin a three-game series with the Atlantic City Surf on Monday at 7:05 p.m. when Ted Serro takes the mound.
