
Pride Rally to Edge Tornadoes; 7-6

(Nashua, N.H.) The Nashua Pride rallied twice in late innings to beat the Worcester Tornadoes, 7-6, behind a top of the ninth inning RBI single from Aregenis Tavarez to propel Nashua at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Saturday night.
Tavarez finished the night 3-for-5 with two RBI, including the game winner. Nashua first baseman Bryan Duplissie also went 3-for-5 in the game with his league leading 18th double of the season and two RBI. Right fielder Jeremy Pickrel was 2-for-4, blasting his ninth home run of the season and scoring three runs, while left fielder Dennis Abreu also notched an RBI.
Pride starting pitcher Lance Stevens factored in with a no-decision, going five-plus innings, giving up five runs, on five hits, one walk and four strike outs. Pride reliever Michael Joyce earned the win (1-0), pitching two-thirds of an inning in the eighth. Adam Piechowski earned his second save for the Pride and picked up a pair of strike outs in the bottom of the ninth.
Worcester starter Alex Pena also ended the night with a no decision, going seven innings, giving up three runs, on seven hits, one walk and a pair of strike outs. Reliever John Birtwell suffered the loss for Worcester, going one and one-third innings, giving up two runs, on four hits, one walk and a pair of strike outs.
The Tornadoes received a three run home run from first baseman Chris Colabello, who finished the game 1-for-4 with three RBI. Designated hitter Josh Farkes also went deep for Worcester, ending the night 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while catcher Alex Trezza also drove in a run for the Tornadoes.
The entire Can-Am League will enjoy a day of rest on Sunday signifying the official end of the first half of the season. Nashua will begin the second half on the road with a three game series against the Sussex Skyhawks beginning on Monday night, at 7:05pm, when the Pride send Jarrett Stawarz (3-2) to the mound.
