Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (June 12, 2007) - RHP Luis Carreras pitched five innings on the hill for his fifth win of the season and OF Jeremy Coronado had three hits and two RBI as the Brockton Rox defeated the Quebec Capitales at Campanelli Stadium 8-3 before 1,899 fans. Carreras's five wins are the best in the Can Am League; he has five of the eleven wins for the Rox in 2007. DH Guye Senjem had two doubles and an RBI to help even the three-game series with Quebec at one game apiece. RHP Matt Reilly and RHP Ryan Burnau combined for four scoreless relief innings.

After two scoreless frames, the Rox got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning. CF Joe Hough tripled off Quebec LHP Kevin Beavers to start the inning, and scored on 2B Eugene Julien's grounder to short, booted by Quebec SS Jjallil Sandoval. Senjem doubled Julien to third, and 1B Francisco Lebron and C Jason Radwan each drove home a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 Brockton.

Carreras cruised into the fifth inning without allowing a run, but gave up a one-out, two-run double to Capitales CF Goefrey Tomlinson in the fifth. 2B Boomer Berry tied the game with an RBI single up the middle. The Rox quickly broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth with three runs of their own. Coronado had a two-run single up the middle and came to the plate on the front end of a double steal. With a 6-3 lead heading to the eighth, the Rox tacked on two insurance runs. SS Lino Mariot drove home a run with an RBI single and Senjem ripped a double to the corner with two outs to complete the scoring.

Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM, the Rox send LHP Donavon Hendricks (0-1, 2.37 ERA) to the hill to face Quebec RHP Michel Simard (2-1, 4.15 ERA).
