(NASHUA, NH, June 12, 2007) The Nashua Pride (11-7) made it six wins in six tries over Atlantic City (7-11) Tuesday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over the Surf at Historic Holman Stadium before 1,346 fans on High School Senior Day.
Six Pride batters knocked in runs in the ballgame. Richard Giannotti's two-out, run-scoring single in the seventh inning plated Matt Creighton to snap a 3-3 tie and put Nashua ahead to stay. Creighton opened the inning with a double, his second hit of the day. In addition to Giannotti, Creighton, Andy Dillard, Jermy Acey, Austin Wasserman and John Ramistella drove in runs for Nashua. Ramistella belted his fourth home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Pride starter Lance Stevens, in just his second professional start, was outstanding through six innings, blanking Atlantic City on just three hits, walking two, and striking out two.
All the Surf runs came in the seventh off Pride reliever Angelo Burrows who worked just two-thirds of an inning. Steve Palazzolo (3-0) worked an inning and one-third of scoreless relief to earn the victory. Rich Garces pitched a hitless ninth inning to post his Can-Am League-leading seventh save in seven save opportunities.
Atlantic City starter Monte Mansfield (1-3) who put the winning run on base in the seventh inning was charged with the loss. Mansfield worked six-plus innings, surrendering six hits and four earned runs, walking no one and fanning four.
Lucas Taylor paced the Atlantic City attack with two hits and an RBI.
