Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (64-59) used four different arms Monday night to take the first of four games against the Tacoma Rainiers (64-59) at Dell Diamond, 5-1.

After starter Josh Lindblom was ejected one pitch into the fourth inning, three Express relievers combined to hold Tacoma to just one hit over 6.0 frames, preserving just the second win over the last 13 games for the E-Train.

The Express offense started strong, loading the bases in the first inning off Tacoma starter James Paxton, but the southpaw tightened up and held Round Rock scoreless, working out of the two-out jam.

In the top of the second, the Rainiers broke through for the game's first run when right fielder Carlos Peguero teed off on Lindblom's 1-0 offering to begin the frame with a solo home run.

Trailing 1-0, the E-Train offense restarted in the bottom of the second, putting runners on first and third before shortstop Guilder Rodriguez came through with a two-out RBI single to knot the game at one.

Lindblom worked into the fourth, plunking Peguero with the first pitch of the frame before being ejected by home plate umpire Shaun Lampe. Right-hander Ryan Rodebaugh took over out of the bullpen, tossing 3.0 shutout innings after being forced into action.

The Express took the lead in the bottom of the fourth as a one-out double by catcher Eli Whiteside set up center fielder Jim Adduci's RBI triple that put Round Rock in front 2-1.

Southpaw Ryan Feierabend replaced Rodebaugh in the seventh and held the Rainiers scoreless in his first action since August 8 and just his fourth relief appearance of the season.

Round Rock added an insurance run in the bottom half of the seventh on a RBI single off the bat of third baseman Mike Bianucci that gave the E-Train a two-run advantage heading into the final two frames.

Whiteside showed off some power in the eighth, belting his fifth home run of the season and third at Dell Diamond before second baseman Yangervis Solarte added a RBI single in the same inning to cap the frame's scoring.

Right-hander Wilmer Font finished off the final two innings, allowing just two base runners in the eighth before a perfect ninth for his third save.

Rodebaugh (1-0) earned his first win after a stellar outing out of the bullpen, while Paxton (7-10) suffered the loss.

The Express and Rainiers continue a four-game series Tuesday night at Dell Diamond. The E-Train will don its 1959 Austin Senators jerseys for the 7:05 p.m. start on the final Turn Back Tuesday, presented by Cedar Park Premier Dentistry featuring half-price tickets. Howie Bedell will be on-hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch tomorrow night as the renowned outfielder played 146 games in center field for the '59 Senators. Right-hander Evan Meek (5-7, 3.80 ERA) will take the mound for Round Rock, while Tacoma will send Andrew Carraway (6-5, 4.80 ERA) to the hill.
