SPILBORGHS STEADY AS A ROCK
Ryan Spilborghs, who joined the Express when he was traded May 4 from Cleveland to the Rangers, has hit safely in each of his first 10 games with Round Rock. That is the seventh streak of at least nine games by an Express player this season. He is hitting .395 (17-for-43) during the streak with six multiple-hit games, including a three-hit effort in Tuesday's series finale at Tacoma. Spilborghs, who has not walked since his first game with the Express (May 5), is 5-for-10 (.500) when leading off an inning but 2-for-8 (.250) with runners on base and two outs. Spilborghs, who also spent parts of five seasons with Colorado Springs, has played 193 career games in the Pacific Coast League; he owns a .344 average (254-for-738) in the league with 21 homers, 106 RBI and 58 doubles.
NELSON SOLID, AS WELL
Brad Nelson is riding an eight-game hitting streak (.313, 10-for-32); it is his third stretch of at least that length. He also has hit safely in 19 of his last 20 games, going 29-for-82 (.354) in that time; however, he has only two multiple-hit outings over the last 11 games. Nelson has six RBI since April 27, a 17-game span with no multiple-RBI performances; two of the six RBI were via home run. He is hitting .367 (18-for-49) during the first three innings but .255 (24-for-94) after the third inning. Nelson has a .500 on-base percentage when leading off an inning, hitting .382 (13-for-34) with one home run and eight walks; however, he is hitting .250 (5-for-20) with RISP and two outs.
CATCH 22
Yangervis Solarte snapped a 22-game hitting streak May 12 when he was 0-for-4 at Tacoma. The streak was the longest in Round Rock's Triple-A history (since 2005), eclipsing the former mark posted by Mark Saccomanno in 2008 (18 games), and stands as the PCL's longest this season. It was the league's 10th streak of at least 22 games since the start of the 2009 season. He hit .376 (35-for-93) during the streak with five homers, 13 RBI, seven doubles, 16 runs scored and six walks against six strikeouts. Solarte had 10 multiple-hit outings during the streak, including three consecutive three-hit games in the second, third and fourth games of the run; however, five of his last seven games were one-hit efforts. He also snapped a streak 15-game hitting streak in road games, the first three of which were not part of the 22-game streak. Additionally, Solarte had his 25-game on-base streak snapped; it, too, was the PCL's longest streak this season. He has reached safely in 34 of 37 games played. Solarte got right back on the horse May 13, going 2-for-4 with a double that produced Round Rock's lone run. He has hit safely in 25 of his last 26 games (.358, 39-for-109). Solarte has gone hitless in consecutive games only twice this season with no three-game skids.
THE BUTLER DOES IT... CONSISTENTLY
Joey Butler, who earlier this season enjoyed a 15-game hitting streak, is hitting .481 (13-for-27) over his last eight games with a trio of three-hit games, three homers, 12 RBI, three doubles and six runs scored. He has reached safely in 20 of 34 plate appearances since May 8 for a .588 on-base percentage. Butler has gone hitless in consecutive games only four times during his Triple-A career (152 games), during which time he has never gone hitless in three straight games. He has reached safely in 36 of 39 games played. Butler is hitting .442 (46-for-104) when putting the ball in play; he has hit safely in 13 of 19 such at bats since May 8, hitting safely in seven consecutive non-strikeout at bats before flying out in the sixth inning May 10 at Salt Lake. Butler has hit into a team-high seven double plays, four of which came in a three-game span April 9-11. He is hitting .353 (36-for-102) after the third inning with all seven of his home runs and 21 of his 25 RBI.
IT'S A LOADED QUESTION
Round Rock is 10-for-38 (.263) with the bases loaded, producing no grand slams and drawing seven walks against seven strikeouts. The Express suffered an 0-for-11 slump at one point this season and have one hit in their last 10 bases-loaded at bats. Only two of the nine hits went for extra bases and they were exactly one month apart: Luis Hernandez had a three-run double May 8 at Salt Lake, and Yangervis Solarte had a three-run double April 8 at Iowa. Meanwhile, opposing batters are 15-for-30 (.500) with the bases loaded, including three grand slams. Opponents are 11-for-17 (.647) with the bases loaded since April 21, including a 5-for-5 series by Oklahoma City (April 26-29).
BULLPEN SHAKY OF LATE
After going 22 consecutive games without a loss, Round Rock's bullpen has taken five on the chin over the last 11 games. In the 22 games between losses, Express relievers posted a 2.81 ERA (26 ER/83.1 IP) and allowed no more than one earned run in 17 of the 22 games. Express relievers are 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA (27 ER/36.0 IP) in 11 games since, also surrendering six unearned runs. The pen allowed Salt Lake to overcome a four-run, ninth-inning deficit May 9 in a 10-9 loss. It was the largest ninth-inning lead blown by the Express bullpen since July 20, 2011, when Round Rock plated eight seventh-inning runs to take an 11-7 lead only to see New Orleans score seven ninth-inning runs for a 14-11 win. Round Rock relievers are 5-8 with a 4.41 ERA (70 ER/143.0 IP) this season. The pen yielded four-plus runs four times in the last seven games, including season highs of six runs three times.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE

Joey Butler and Yangervis Solarte are among eight players tied for third in the league with 13 each.
"HOME" RUNS SCARCE
In stark contrast to last season, The Dell Diamond has not been a launching pad for the Express. Round Rock averages 0.75 homers per game through 16 home dates this season while averaging 1.38 homers in 24 road games, including a season-high five May 8 at Salt Lake. The Express snapped a streak of nine consecutive road games with at least one homer May 13 at Tacoma; they clubbed 15 homers in that span. Round Rock has homered in all but six road games this season, clubbing at least two homers eight times. Meanwhile, the Express have enjoyed only two multiple-homer games at The Dell Diamond "" two April 14 vs. Iowa and three May 3 vs. New Orleans. Last season, Round Rock averaged 1.46 home runs per game at The Dell Diamond and 0.97 homers per game on the road. Teams have combined to score 8.75 runs per game at The Dell Diamond this season as opposed to the 11.90 average in 2011. The Express average 4.53 runs per game at home this season and 5.79 runs per game on the road.
ONE-RUN GAMES NOW RARE
Round Rock's 10-9 loss May 9 at Salt Lake was the team's first one-run loss since a 3-2 defeat April 16 vs. Iowa, a game that ended a franchise-record streak of seven consecutive one-run games. The Express are 5-7 in one-run games, snapping a three-game winning streak in such games with the May 9 loss at Salt Lake. Seven of the one-run games were against Iowa, which leads the PCL with 19 one-run games.
