
River Cats Blow out Isotopes, 16-5

West Sacramento, Calif. - Chris Carter and Brandon Hicks combined to drive in 11 runs as the River Cats cruised past Albuquerque on Thursday night at Isotopes Park, 16-5.
The River Cats wasted no time scoring, plating three runs in the first inning thanks to Carter's fifth home run of the season. The Cats would score 11times, with Carter going 3-for-3 with six RBI and two home runs through the game's first three innings. In all, the Cats crossed the plate 16 times with six players tallying multi-hit games.
Starter Brad Peacock gave up five runs in six innings for the Cats, earning his fifth win of the year. Sacramento's bullpen combined to go three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Albuquerque scored five times, highlighted by a 3-for-4 night by shortstop Luis Cruz, who scored twice. Isotopes starter Michael Antonini gave up seven runs, six earned, in 1.1 innings pitched for his second loss of the season. Reliever Ramon Troncoso allowed five earned runs in 2.2 innings.
Carter finished 3-for-5 with two home runs, six RBIs, four runs scored and a walk. Hicks went 4-for-6 with five RBIs and three runs scored and was a double short of a cycle. Leadoff hitter Grant Green had four at-bats through the first four innings of the game, and finished 3-for-6 with four runs. The Cats tallied eight extra-base hits including two doubles, three home runs and a team-season-high three triples. The 16-run outburst gives Sacramento 25 runs scored in its last two contests.
Game two of the series is set for Friday at 6:05 p.m. at Isotopes Park. River Cats righty Graham Godfrey (3-2, 1.38 ERA) will face Isotopes righty Fernando Nieve (1-1, 10.47 ERA). Manny Ramirez will join the Cats for Saturday night's game in Albuquerque.
