Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - The road isn't always a welcome sight, but the Express is hoping it might be the cure for its current funk.

Round Rock dropped its third straight, 7-4 to Albuquerque at The Dell Diamond on Sunday, falling into a tie with the Isotopes (Fla.) for the last spot in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division. The team hits the road for eight games Monday, swinging through New Orleans and Nashville before returning home to face Tacoma on May 8.

The Express, which began the season 6-2, has dropped seven of its last nine and hasn't picked up a series win since taking three of four from Iowa to start the season.

On Sunday, Josh Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI, bumping his batting average to .304. Four other Express players had base hits, including Jesse Garcia, who moved his average to .342.

Albuquerque jumped out to a 3-0 lead against right-handed starter Juan Gutierrez in the second inning and tacked on two more against Gutierrez in the sixth to extend a 5-1 lead.

Reggie Abercrombie pushed the lead to five runs in the seventh, reaching first after being hit by a pitch from reliever Miguel Asencio and scoring after a failed pick-off attempt and a single from Chad Hermanson.

Round Rock mounted a comeback in the bottom of the frame when Mark Saccomanno led off with a single to third base. Eric Bruntlett walked and the two scored when Jesse Garcia slapped a single through the left side.

Garcia moved the score to 6-4 on Cody Ransom's RBI-single, but that was it for Round Rock.
