RoughRiders Helping Fans "Beat the Heat" this Weekend in Frisco

August 6, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 6, 2015) - WFAA-TV Chief Meteorologist Pete Delkus summed up the upcoming weather forecast in the Metroplex with this tweet: "Yikes! This weekend will be a HOT one! Take it easy this weekend as temperatures give records a run for their money!"

With predicted temperatures expected to soar well over 100 degrees, the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are embracing the scorching heat by today announcing a series of cool deals and hot promotions as part of "Beat the Heat Weekend" at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Throughout the Riders' August 6-9 home series against the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres' affiliate), fans in attendance at any or all four games can catch necessary refreshment - and save money -- in a number of ways.

"Beat the Heat Weekend" at Dr Pepper Ballpark will feature:

- $1 Small Dr Pepper Fountain Sodas

- 1/2 Price tasty and refreshing Lemon Chills

- Bottled Water Happy Hour! Each night, 20 oz. Deja Blue bottles will cost just $2 from gates open to first pitch

- DOG Days of Summer Deal! Buy any two (2) regular price hot dogs and get a free small Dr Pepper Fountain Soda

- Kona Ice Truck will be available in the third-base State Fairway at the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games

- Thirsty Thursday! As previously scheduled, $1 12 oz. domestic and $2 12 oz. craft drafts will be available from 6-8 p.m. Thursday

- Portable "Cool Zones" and Misting Stations will be scattered throughout the main concourse

- FREE Hawaiian Falls Waterparks tickets will be given away to select fans each game

Additionally, the team will poke fun at the soaring temps by offering FREE coffee and hot chocolate throughout the entire four-game series. To highlight the free coffee and hot chocolate promotion, DFW's "King of the Summertime Hot Chocolate," Chuck Morgan will be on hand at Thursday's RoughRiders' home game to host "Hot Chocolate with Chuck" during one of the inning breaks. When current RoughRiders' CEO & Managing Partner Chuck Greenberg took over the same role with the Texas Rangers in August 2010, it was Chuck M's idea to offer $1 hot chocolate as part of Chuck G's sweeping reduction in concessions prices at Globe Life Park.

As an added bonus, and to further stick a tongue out at the hot temperatures, the Riders Outpost Team Store at Dr Pepper Ballpark will be running a 30% off sale on select pullovers and hoodies throughout the August 6-9 home stand.

"Free coffee and hot chocolate aside, with potential record-setting temperatures in the forecast we wanted to let our great fans know that we're prepared to make the experience at Dr Pepper Ballpark as comfortable, enjoyable and 'cool' as possible this weekend," said RoughRiders' Executive Vice President & General Manager Jason Dambach.

The August 6-9 series at Dr Pepper Ballpark is jam-packed promotionally, highlighted by $1 drafts and sodas on another Thirsty Thursday/Groovy Grubesday, two (2) Post-Game Fireworks Shows (Friday & Sunday), Star Wars Night (Friday), a Derek Holland Bobblehead Doll Giveaway (Saturday) and Kids Scorched Red Jersey Day on Kids Sunday Funday.
