Texas Rangers Call up Former Rider Luke Jackson

FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 6, 2015) - The Texas Rangers announced on Thursday that the club recalled right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson from Triple-A Round Rock. Jackson appeared in 21 games with Frisco from 2013 to 2014. He is the 134th former RoughRider to earn a promotion to the Major Leagues.

Jackson, 23, has spent the season at Round Rock, composing a 2-2 record over 33 games (five starts). In 60 innings, the Florida-native has posted a 4.05 ERA while striking out 71 batters. He was a first round, 45th overall, selection for the Texas Rangers in 2010 out of Calvary Christian HS in Fort Lauderdale.

In his two seasons with the RoughRiders, Jackson went 10-2 while starting 18 games and was chosen as a Mid-Season All-Star in 2014. He combined to post a 2.45 ERA over 110 innings and struck out 113 batters. His 2.45 ERA is 8th all-time in Riders' history.

Jackson joins fellow former Riders Ryan Strausborger, Joey Gallo, Hanser Alberto, Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez and Keone Kela to make their major league debuts with the Rangers this season. Additionally, former Riders Odubel Herrera (Phillies) and Wilfredo Boscan (Pirates) also made the majors for the first time.
