Roughnecks Lock up Key Team Members as NLL Free Agency Begins
August 15, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks have signed four players and qualified five other players as NLL Free Agency opened Monday August 15..
The team re-signed veteran defenceman Mitch Wilde, slated to become an unrestricted free agent, to a one-year deal and defenceman Reece Callies, a restricted free agent, to a two-year contract.
"Mitch and Reece are both leaders on the floor and in the dressing room, and are committed to the Roughnecks organization and to winning another championship for the city. They both bring strong skillsets on the defensive side of the ball with their size and athleticism" said Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board.
Goaltender Christian Del Bianco, forward Tyler Pace and defenders Zach Currier, Shane Simpson and Eli Salama have received qualifying offers from the team. The qualifying offers mean the Roughnecks maintain negotiating rights to the players.
The Roughnecks have also reached two-year agreements with goaltender Adam Bland and forward Dylan McIntosh. Bland, a Victoria, BC native, will play at the Minto Cup in Brampton later this month with the Victoria Shamrocks. McIntosh, drafted by the Roughnecks in the 2021 Entry Draft, returned to Hofstra University to finish his NCAA career and played for the Maple Ridge Burrards in the Western Lacrosse Association this summer.
"Adam and Dylan both had good summer seasons," said Board, "Adam is a young, emerging goalie and Dylan is a big, athletic right-handed offensive player. Both have upsides to their games so we are looking forward to seeing them both at training camp this fall where expect a very competitive group."
