Halifax Thunderbirds News Release
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have re-signed defenceman Luc Magnan to a two-year contract. "He (Luc) is a veteran leader and loved by his teammates. We are happy to have Luc locked in for the next 2 years," said Thunderbirds Owner and General Manager, Curt Styres. "His high lacrosse IQ and physical play makes him a constant threat for opponents."
Magnan, 30, wrapped up his sixth NLL season and fifth with the Thunderbirds franchise. He played in nine regular season contests in the 2021-22 season, collecting 32 loose balls, causing five turnovers, and handing out an assist.
A graduate of Robert Morris University, the right-hander was drafted by the Toronto Rock with the 17th overall pick in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft. After his rookie campaign with the Rock, the Pine Falls, Manitoba native inked a two-year deal with the franchise and has remained with the team since.
"Mags was voted teammate of the year last year which tells you the kind of guy he is," Thunderbirds Assistant General Manager Scott Campbell said. "He is a leader and willing to do what ever it takes to win. Playing hard D, blocking shots, mixing it up he does it all back there."
Magnan has 70 regular season games under his belt. He has amassed 31 points (4G, 27A), 314 loose balls, and 39 caused turnovers. In six postseason contests, he has seven assists and 27 loose balls.
"There's nowhere else I'd rather be," Magnan said. "I believe in our group, and I can't wait to get back together with the team."
