Halifax Thunderbirds News Release

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have re-signed goaltender Aaron Bold to a one-year contract.

"We're glad to have Boldy back for another year," Thunderbirds Owner and General Manager Curt Styres said. "He's another steady veteran that has a calming, cerebral approach to the game and in the locker room. We can always expect Boldy to be mentally and physically prepared to lock down the crease."

Bold, 37, is a 16-year NLL veteran netminder, a two-time NLL champion, and the 2016 NLL Cup MVP, winning his second NLL championship with the Rush franchise.

Bold saw action down the stretch in the 2021-22 Thunderbirds season, finishing the regular season with 204:25 min. played, a 2-1 win-loss record, 12.33 GAA, and .698 Sv%. He was subbed in for the final 50:31 min. of action in the Thunderbirds' postseason game, stopping 32 shots for a 10.69 GAA and .780 Sv% in the team's comeback attempt.

One of the premier netminders of his generation, Bold has played 8397:05 min. in the NLL between the pipes. He has an 85-54 win-loss record to complement his career 10.76 GAA and .768 SV%. No stranger to the postseason, Bold has played 1216:46 min. with a 12-8 record, 10.50 GAA and .774 SV%.

The Edmonton, Alberta native's name is etched into the history books of multiple franchises and the NLL record books. During his 16 regular seasons, Bold is eighth all-time in goalie minutes, ninth all-time in saves, and 6th all-time in goalie wins. In the postseason, he is 6th all-time in minutes and saves and is tied for third most postseason goalie wins with NLL Hall of Famer Dallas Eliuk.

Bold claims the third highest single season saves total, making 712 of them during the 2017-18 NLL season with the New England Black Wolves.

In addition to being a two-time NLL Cup champion and NLL Cup MVP, Bold was named to the 2012, 2014 and 2015 NLL All-Pro Second Teams.

Originally drafted by the Portland Lumberjax in the third round (No. 29 overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, Bold's long career includes stops with the Lumberjax, San Jose Stealth, Rochester Knighthawks, Edmonton and Saskatchewan Rush, New England Black Wolves, and most recently the Vancouver Warriors.
