Roughnecks Draft pick Dies of Cancer

Calgary, AB ( Tuesday, November 8, 2005) - Jeremy Richardson, the Calgary Roughnecks third round pick (27th overall) in the 2002 National Lacrosse League's entry draft, has died of cancer.

His funeral is tomorrow (Wednesday, November 10) at 3 p.m. at Holy Parish Church, St. Albert, Alberta.

"Jeremy was a wonderful lacrosse player with great potential," said Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Hall today.

"Even though he had been ill for sometime, we retained his rights because we always hoped he'd get well and eventually make his way into the NLL."

Hall added, "The thoughts and prayers of all of us at the Roughnecks are with Jeremy's family and friends."

Richardson, 23, as playing for the Edmonton Miners Jr. A team when he was drafted by the Riggers. For the past two seasons, he has been an assistant coach with the Miners.
