November 8, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth General Manager Johnny Mouradian has announced that the organization has re-signed goaltender Anthony Cosmo, forward Derek Malawsky and defenseman Curtis Hodgson.

Cosmo, a two-time NLL Champion, registered a 3-9 record last season with a 12.28 goals-against average and a .749 save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Thorold, Ontario led the Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association to the Mann Cup Championship this past summer and was named MVP of the tournament. Over his five-year NLL career, Cosmo, the starting goaltender for the Western Division in the 2005 NLL All-Star Game, has a 10.97 GAA and a 76.83 save percentage in 68 games.

Malawsky, a seven-year NLL veteran, registered 50 points (14 goals, 36 assists) in 14 games in his first season with the Stealth. Acquired by San Jose from Minnesota on Jan. 7, 2005, the 6-foot, 175-pound native of Coquitlam, British Columbia has accumulated 432 points (149 goals and 283 assists) in 96 games. On Aug.10, Malawsky was chosen as San Jose's franchise player, guaranteeing the retention of the key veteran player.

Hodgson had an impressive first season with the Stealth and was a mainstay on a defense that included former NLL Defensemen of the Year Cam Woods (2004) and Jim Moss (2003). The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Burnaby, British Columbia native accumulated eight points (four goals, four assists) while scooping 44 loose balls in all 16 games last season. The Simon Fraser University graduate enjoyed success in the WLA this past summer, earning First Team All-Star honors.

"With the experience that these three players have from playing together last season, they're more familiar with each other which should help the organization in the big picture," said Mouradian. "We're happy to have all three back."
