HICKORY, NC - Hickory Crawdads starter LHP Robbie Ross dealt seven scoreless frames to shutout the Rome Braves, 1-0, in a pitchers duel before 2,929 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Saturday night. With the win, the first-place Crawdads extend their current winning streak to four games and ensure a series victory against Rome.

Ross (5-4, 2.55 ERA) allowed just three hits over his seven innings on the mound with four strikeouts to earn himself the win. Ross now leads the Crawdads pitching staff in wins with five and has started three of the four Crawdads shutout victories this season.

Braves starter RHP Robinson Lopez (2-2, 2.27 ERA) matched Ross most of the way before allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth. In his six innings pitched, Lopez gave up just the one unearned run on two hits and two walks while fanning three to get saddled with the loss for Rome (16-26).

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, 3B Matt West stepped in for the Crawdads (27-16). West popped a short fly ball to center field, but CF Kyle Rose misplayed the ball in the lights, allowing it to glance off his glove for a two-base error with West getting to second on the play. One out later, LF Jared Prince laced a two-out double to right-center to score West and give the 'Dads the 1-0 lead.

The Crawdads bullpen picked up where Ross left off, with RHP Andrew Doyle pitching a scoreless eighth and RHP Trevor Hurley throwing a scoreless ninth to earn himself his second save of the season.
