The Larks dropped their fifth straight game on Saturday night, losing to the Mankato MoonDogs 6-5. Prior to the game, four Larks participated in the North Dakota Beef Commission Home Run Derby.
Despite the loss, the Larks received a strong outing from starter Carter Rost. The righty went six innings allowing just three earned runs. Rost recorded six strikeouts and most importantly, allowed zero walks.
The back-and-forth affair from the MoonDogs and Larks didn't slow down until the last pitch was thrown. The Larks entered the top of the ninth with a 5-4 lead after an RBI single from Spencer Sarringar gave the Larks the lead earlier in the eighth. Unfortunately, Mankato rallied to a 6-5 lead after a two RBI single by MoonDogs' Center Fielder, Will Hanafan.
Jaxon Rosenzranz made the play of the game when he stole home in the first inning for the Fetzer Electric Play of The Game. With the steal, one lucky fan won $20,000 towards a brand new home courtesy of Knutson Realty.
Larks reliever, and Saturday's North Dakota Beef Commission Home Run Derby champion, Blake Gallagher, entered in the ninth and had a lively fastball. Gallagher's fastball reached 93 on the gun, for the Metro-Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch.ÃÂ
The Larks look to snap their five-game losing streak as they continue their four game series against the MoonDogs on Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 first pitch. Ryan Carmack takes the ball, as the righty makes his sixth start of the season.
