Kingfish Fight Back Late and Sweep Traverse City

Traverse City, Mich. - The Kenosha Kingfish (19-13) defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters (20-14) 2-1 at Turtle Creek Stadium on Saturday, July 3rd.

Looking to pull ahead in the Great Lakes East and following five scoreless frames from both teams, Traverse City put up the first run in the sixth inning off of a Chris Monroe (Illinois-Springfield) RBI double to take the 1-0 lead.

In the top of the eighth with two outs, Cam Redding (Saint Louis) hit an RBI single scoring Carmine Lane (South Florida) to tie the game at 1-1.

In the ninth inning, Kenosha kept the bats going when Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon) hit an RBI fielder's choice, scoring Cam Collier (South Florida) to give Kenosha their first lead of the game at 2-1.

On the mound, Kingfish starter Joey Kosowsky (Farleigh Dickinson) threw 5.1 innings allowing one earned run. Jared Thompson (Illinois Springfield) came on in relief throwing two innings of shutout ball. Randon Dauman (Saint Louis) came on and picked up the win, going the final four outs and not conceding a hit.

Kenosha will take on Madison tomorrow, Sunday, July 4th at 5:05 p.m CDT in the series opener.
