Texas AirHogs News Release
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Texas AirHogs got a gem of a start from Miguel Rosario but ultimately dropped the first of the three-game set in St. Paul Friday by a final of 3-1. Correlle Prime finished with an RBI for the third straight evening.
Rosario turned in another brilliant performance against the Saints, holding the home team to four hits and one run over seven innings. Prime helped build him an early lead in the top half of the third on an RBI base hit to score Dillon Thomas before the Saints evened the score in the bottom half.
Like Rosario, St. Paul starter Trevor Foss would ultimately receive a no-decision. The AirHogs got to him for seven hits but had trouble cashing in, scoring just one run before Ken Frosch (2-0), who earned the win after getting the final out in the eighth, and Mike Devine finished the game on the mound for the Saints.
Rosario has now pitched 14 innings against the Saints this season, limiting St. Paul to just one run and five hits in that span.
In the eighth, the AirHogs defense committed three errors, two on a pickoff play gone awry, that led to a go-ahead run for St. Paul. After falling behind 2-1, reliever Lu Yusong (2-1) issued three walks and a hit-by-pitch as the Saints got an insurance tally.
Devine picked up his fourth save of the year after a 1-2-3 top half of the ninth. Texas outhit St. Paul 7-4. The loss was the sixth straight for the AirHogs.
Texas (17-47) and St. Paul (36-28) meet again tomorrow at 7:05. LHP Tyler Matzek (2-6, 5.79 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs vs. RHP Jake Matthys (5-4, 3.09 ERA) for the Saints. A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
The Texas AirHogs - powered by Beijing Shougang Eagles will return home July 31 to take on Gary SouthShore. Tickets for all home games are available. Visit AirHogsBaseball.com for more information.
