Texas AirHogs News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - The Texas AirHogs carried a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the ninth but could not hang on Thursday at Shaw Park vs. the Goldeyes. The home team launched a comeback with a four-run final turn at bat to sink Texas 5-4. The AirHogs head to St. Paul to take on the Saints this weekend at CHS Field.

Meng Weiqiang got the start for Texas and made it his best of the season. He allowed just two hits in six innings of shutout ball. He outdueled Kevin McGovern, who allowed seven hits and four runs (four earned) over 6.2 innings.

Correlle Prime starred with the bat, knocking in all four AirHogs runs on a two-out RBI double in the third and a two-out RBI single in the fifth. He reached base four times. Dillon Thomas finished with three hits and two runs scored. Du Xiaolei reached base three times.

Ran Song, Zheng Chaoqun, and Sean Stutzman combined to allow one run in the seventh before Stutzman notched a 1-2-3 eighth. The Goldeyes got to Stutzman and Taylor Wright in the ninth for five hits, taking advantage of one Texas error and a walkoff sacrifice fly by Reggie Abercrombie to steal the series finale.

Wright (2-2) took the loss after allowing four singles and three runs (two earned). Victor Capellan (3-3) earned the win for the Goldeyes after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth.
