Rosario, Mets Complete 5-2 Comeback Win over Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. - Amed Rosario laced a tie-breaking RBI double in the ninth and the St. Lucie Mets completed a 5-2 comeback win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Wednesday at Roger Dean Stadium.

The teams entered the ninth 2-2 and Champ Stuart started the rally with a single off of Jose Adames. Jonathan Johnson tried for a sac bunt but instead reach on a bunt single. That brought up Rosario, who hit an opposite field shot that landed just fair inside the right field line. Johnson scored on the play when John Norwood's throw back to the infield got away.

Wuilmer Becerra tacked on a RBI single to finish the scoring and put the game out of reach.

The Mets led 1-0 until Taylor Ard blooped a two-run single against Corey Oswalt in the sixth. Earlier in the inning the Mets missed out on a chance to score with the bases loaded and no outs.

The Mets also had the bases full in the seventh with one out but could not score. Tomas Nido got them off the hook when he tied the game in the eighth with a two-out single that plated Kevin Taylor. Taylor started the inning by reaching on a walk.

Oswalt was terrific through the first five innings, limiting the Hammerheads to two hits. Jupiter started the bottom of the sixth with four straight hits to take a 2-1 lead, but Oswalt got a double play and a ground out to escape further trouble.

Oswalt struck out five and scattered six hits in six innings. He received a no decision.

Tim Peterson pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win. He pitched out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the seventh.

Robby Coles tossed a scoreless ninth for his second save.

Taylor went 2 for 3 with two walks and two runs scored. He extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Taylor has seven consecutive two-hit games.

A day after his 13-game hitting streak ended, Becerra went 3 for 5.

Jupiter starter Luis Castillo allowed one run in five innings.

Next Up: The Mets (18-14, 2nd) and Hammerheads (15-17) complete their four-game series on Thursday at Roger Dean Stadium. The Mets are aiming for the series victory. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
