Roosters to take extra precautions on steroids
August 22, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Richmond Roosters News Release
Richmond, Indiana - There has not been one member of the Richmond Roosters that has ever tested positive for steroid use.
And VP/General Manager Deanna Beaman is proud of that fact. So proud she wants not only to keep it that way - she wants to take it a step further.
The Roosters, members of the Frontier League, now will make certain that none of their paying fans are taking steroids or performance-enhancing drugs.
"We're planning on doing some random fan testing between now and the end of the season," Beaman said. "We owe it to our players. If they can keep clean, and provide great entertainment for our community, the very least our fans can do is reciprocate."
Beaman said that testing will be conducted, from time-to-time in and around Don McBride Stadium, or if any fan looks as if he may be on a performance-enhancing drug.
"We know most of our regular fans and season-ticket holders quite well," she said, "but we'll take notice if we see any weight gains."
