Richmond Roosters News Release
Richmond, Indiana - The Roosters were defeated 4-2 by the Kalamazoo Kings on Sunday, dropping the final game of the series. The Kings got an excellent performance by starting pitcher, Joshua Beshears, and rolled on to take the series two games to one.
Kalamazoo scored a run in the first on a Tim Brown groundout, but Richmond came back with two in the bottom of the first. Kevin White had a RBI single to center and Kiley Vaughn hit a run-scoring double to left-center field to give the Roosters a 2-1 lead. The Kings tied the game in the fourth on another groundout and took the lead at 3-2 in the sixth when Trevor Brown hit a solo homer to center field. Kalamazoo added an insurance run in the top of the ninth on a solo shot by Andrew Barden to make it 4-2 which would be the final score.
Joshua Beshears (11-3) pitched a complete game for Kalamazoo to get the victory, giving up only two runs on six hits with 13 strikeouts. Pat Kohorst (0-1) took the loss even though he had a quality start with seven innings pitched and three runs given up.
The Roosters will begin a three-game series against the Ohio Valley Redcoats on Monday in Lafayette, Indiana. Tony Casoli (7-4, 3.54 ERA) will make the start for Richmond in game one. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (Indiana time).
