
Roosters out-slug Otters

Richmond, INâ In a game that featured eight homeruns, the Richmond Roosters held of to defeat the Evansville Otters 10-9.
Richmond posted the first two runs of the game with back-to-back homers in the bottom of the first. Following a solo homer by O. J. Garza in the second, the Roosters hit two more back-to-back shots in the third to make it 4-1. After the Otters scored a run in the fourth, Evansville scored five runs in the fifth, led by doubles by Denver Stuckey, Terrence McClain, Carlos Brackley, and Sean Flynn to take a 7-4 lead.
The Roosters came right back in the fifth inning when with two outs, Blake Woods hit his third homer of the game to make it 7-5. Richmond then scored four runs in the eighth off of reliever Kurt Watzek to give the Roosters a 9-7 lead. Evansville would hit two more homers of their own to pull it to 10-9, but Matt Schweitzer shut the door on the final two batters earning the save.
In the finale of the series the Otters send Bryan Simmering to the mound against David Campos for Richmond.
