Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA â Falconi Field, home of The Washington Wild Things will play host to its first-ever concert this September when nationally renown country musicians, Lonestar headlines a concert scheduled at the baseball diamond. Other musical acts include Josh Turner (Long Black Train), local sensation The Poverty Neck Hillbillies, and Wayne Warner (Turbo Twang).
"Falconi Field makes the ideal setting for a concert like this," said Mark Talerico, Executive Director for Washington County Tourism and Promotion Agency. "The setting is intimate and the location is accessible from all directions. This is the type of event we like to see in Washington County. It will bring visitors into our area so they can see all the things we have to offer and be WOWed. Our advertising campaign is Wild Over Washington. This is the type of event that does WOW people."
The ballpark will be transformed into an intimate amphitheatre with just over 5,000 seats. The stage will be set at second base so that all the seats both on field and in the seating bowl will have a perfect, close-up view.
"Tourists and residents alike have flocked to Falconi Field to see our home team, The Wild Things," said PA Senator J. Barry Stout. "How wonderful to expand this exciting venue for concerts! It will provide yet another reason for families to come to Washington County."
Lonestar is known nationwide for their hits My Front Porch Looking In, Let's Be Us Again, and Amazed. The band has earned nine #1 hits, Vocal Group of the Year honors from the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music and six Grammy nominations. In addition they have accumulated more than 8 million units in album sales. Lonestar has received an array of honors recognizing their humanitarian efforts for their work to benefit several charities, including St Jude Children's Research Hospital. The country-hit band has toured the entire country this year and will be guests on The View this Thursday.
"We've been planning to do concerts since we moved into the ballpark three years ago," said John Swiatek, managing partner of the Wild Things. Falconi Field has so many amenities to offer...it's the perfect venue for not only baseball, but also concerts, festivals, and more! We pride ourselves in our convenient location, and our affordable prices. During baseball we boast that the seats are so close you can smell the leather. During the concert, seats are so close, you'll feel like you're being serenaded!"
Tickets for the concert go on sale Saturday, July 24th at the ballpark box office and through Ticketmaster.
