Raptors 905 took an 11-point lead in the first half and carried the momentum to a 100-86 win over the Grand Rapids Drive Wednesday night at Hershey Centre in Mississauga.
Led by 10 points each at halftime by Bruno Caboclo and Ronald Roberts Jr., Raptors 905 led 45-34 after two quarters. The 34 first-half points by Grand Rapids matched a season-low for points in a half among Raptors 905 opponents. The Drive shot just 31.0 percent (13-for-42) from the field and 18.2 percent (2-for-11) from three-point range in the first two quarters, compared to 50.0 percent (17-for-34) from the field and 41.7 percent (5-for-12) from three-point range by Raptors 905.
The Drive cut the Mississauga club's lead to just five points with a 30-24 advantage in the third quarter, but Raptors 905 regained its earlier lead in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 22 points late to hold on for its fourth victory of the season.
Roberts Jr. and Caboclo finished with 21 and 18 points, respectively, for Raptors 905. Joining them with double-digits in points on the evening were Delon Wright (12), Axel Toupane (12) and Scott Suggs (11). Wright also had a game-high seven assists.
For the Drive, Devin Ebanks led the way with a game-high 28 points and was joined in double digits by Lorenzo Brown (16), Dahntay Jones (11) and Henry Sims (10). Sims also had a game-high 12 rebounds.
Raptors 905 led Grand Rapids in field goal percentage (50.7-38.2), three point percentage (34.5-25.0), points in the paint (42-40) and second-chance points (27-7), while the Drive held the advantage in free throw percentage (88.5-66.7) and fast-break points (15-9).
Raptors 905 is back in action Saturday, December 19 when the club plays host to the Delaware 87ers at Hershey Centre in Mississauga at 2 p.m.
