Rommie, Revs Make It Back-To-Back Victories Against Barnstormers

Rommie Lewis turned in an impressive first start as the York Revolution secured their first back-to-back victories of the season with a 4-2 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers on Tuesday evening at Santander Stadium. The Revs move above .500 at 3-2 with the victory, while starting the 28-game "War of the Roses" series 2-0. York will conclude its season opening six-game homestand on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., seeking a three-game home sweep against the Barnstormers.
The story for the Revs on Tuesday night was Lewis, as the club's all-time saves leader made his first start since the 2010 season. Lewis (1-0) responded in a big way, limiting Lancaster to just an unearned run over five innings to earn the victory.
Lewis was provided an early boost as Brandon Jones crushed a line drive two-run homer to right field in the bottom of the second for an early 2-0 lead. Jones became the league's first to hit his second home run this season with the blast.
The Barnstormers cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the third. Lance Zawadski reached on an error to begin the frame, and Yusuke Kajimoto followed with a single to right. After a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Bortnick, Blake Gailen picked up an RBI on a groundout to second, cutting York's lead to 2-1. Lewis struck out Brian Cavazos-Galvez swinging to strand the tying run at third, however.
Lewis scattered five hits, just one in each of his five innings, and struck out two while walking one in an efficient effort. The lefty used 68 pitches, 44 of which were strikes, to win his 46th career start.
York padded the lead in the sixth inning. Andres Perez led off with his league-leading sixth walk of the year and second of the night, and Johan Limonta followed with a single to left. Bryan Pounds then drove an RBI double into the right field corner, extending the lead to 3-1. Jones drew another walk to reload the bases, and after a strikeout, Mikey Reynolds legged out an attempted double play to pick up an RBI in his Revs debut, increasing the lead to 4-1.
Matt Neil, Joe Harris, and Beau Vaughan all worked scoreless innings out of the Revs bullpen to carry the lead to the ninth.
Cavazos-Galvez greeted reliever Stephen Penney with a first pitch double down the third base line and scored when Henry Wrigley found fair territory along the right field line for a one-out triple, but Penney retired Kevin Rivers on a strikeout and Keith Castillo on a fly out to center to nail down his first save of the season.
Barnstormers starter Bryan Evans (0-2) suffered the loss, charged with two runs on only three hits in five innings of work.
Pounds reached base all four times, going 2-for-2 with a double, RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
Notes: Revs starters have allowed just one run in each of the first five games this season; with Tuesday's run being unearned, the starting staff lowered its ERA to 1.57 (23.0 IP, 4 ER). York right-hander Corey Thurman makes his season debut opposite Lancaster lefty Dan Osterbrock (0-0, 1.93) in Wednesday's matchup.
