Bluefish Bats Come Alive in Series Opener

(Bridgeport, Conn. - April 28, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (2-2) had a season-high 12 hits en route to a 4-1 victory over the Somerset Patriots (2-2) in the first game of a three game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Starting pitcher Parker Frazier (1-0) made his Bluefish debut, hurling five and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and one run, while walking two and striking out one.

With the score tied at one in the bottom half of the fourth inning, the 'Fish took the lead with a two out rally. Ryan Babineau singled to start things off, one of four hits on the night for the Bridgeport backstop. With Babineau running, Luis Rodriguez belted a run scoring double, his first hit of the season. Ildemaro Vargas followed with an RBI single of his own, all coming off Somerset starting pitcher Lucas Irvine (0-1). The Bluefish bullpen took care of the rest, with three and one-third scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Tim Gustafson closed it out in the ninth with his first save of the season. The Bluefish bullpen has now pitched 18.1 innings allowing just three runs in 2015.

The 'Fish are back in action Wednesday morning, April 29th at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard when they host the Somerset Patriots in the middle game of the three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 a.m.
