ROME, GA - Rome scored four times in the fourth inning and held off the BlueClaws 4-2 on Friday night in the first game after the All-Star break.

The BlueClaws (6-10/41-40) have dropped three straight after falling Friday in the first of a three game series.

Neither team scored over the first three innings before Rome broke through with four runs in the fourth inning off Rafael Marcano. Geraldo Quintero opened the scoring with a two-run single. After he then stole second base to put runners on second and third, Ethan Workinger singled home two for a 4-0 lead. All four runs scored with two outs.

Nick Ward got the BlueClaws on the board in the top of the fifth with a solo homer to right-center. It was his seventh home run of the season.

Rome starter Darius Vines gave up one run over 4.2 innings of work. He struck out five and did not walk a batter, but did not factor in the decision. Miguel Pena (1-1) threw 1.1 scoreless innings and earned the win.

Jersey Shore got a run in the 9th when Erick Brito reached on an error, but Leandro Pineda grounded into a double play against reliever Jonathan Hughes to end the game. All told, the BlueClaws grounded into four double plays in the loss.

Hughes, who spent the last two years with the BlueClaws, earned his fifth save.

Marcano (4-6) took the loss, allowing four runs in 3.2 innings. Mitch Neunborn struck out two over two scoreless innings in relief.

The teams continue their series on Saturday night in Rome. LHP Jordan Fowler starts for the BlueClaws.
