ROME, GA - Coming off the All-Star Break, The Rome Braves would record a series opening win over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Friday night by a final score of four runs to two.

After going through a flurry of roster moves, the Rome Braves would send Darius Vines to the mound in the series opener. Vines last pitched with Rome in 2021, and is currently on a minor league rehab assignment while on the Gwinnett Injured List.

Vines would hit the ground running, going one-two-three in the game's opening frame thanks to a double play that erased a leadoff single from Jersey Shore. Vines would turn in a solid performance, going four and two thirds of an inning with the only blemish being a solo home run in the top half of the fifth.

The BlueClaws' pitching staff would be the story of the first few innings, as Rafael Marcano would toss three perfect innings before giving up a single to Nacho Alvarez Jr. Once the Braves broke through the hit column, the runs began to flow. A Geraldo Quintero single would score Alvarez and David McCabe, making the score two runs to none in favor of Rome.

Another single from Ethan Workinger would drive in Rome's third and fourth runs of the night. Quintero would go on to finish the night three for four with two runs batted in. Quintero's trio of hits raises his batting average for the month of July to a solid .308.

Miguel Pena would be the first man out of the bullpen for the Braves, as he hurled one and one third of an inning of shutout ball, setting the stage for another minor league rehabber in the form of Jackson Stephens.

Stephens, who currently resides on Gwinnett's Injured List, last pitched in the majors on in game one of the National League Division Series on October 11th. That day, the Oxford, AL, native would turn in two innings of shutout relief.

He would do the exact same on Friday night for the Rome Braves, as he covered the seventh and eighth innings for the R-Braves, earning himself a hold.

The Braves would go on to win by a final score of four runs to two. This is Rome's thirty-eighth win of the season, and their eighth of the second half. The Braves currently sit five and a half games back in pursuit of the SAL South Division's second half crown.

The series continues tomorrow as 2016 SAL Champion and 2021 World Champion Max Fried is set to start for the Rome Braves as part of a major league rehab assignment. First pitch is at 5:00pm.
