Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Lake County Captains 4-1at State Mutual Stadium Thursday evening in front 3,571 fans.

Rome didn't hesitate getting on the board in the first inning when CJ Lee singled and advanced to third on a Chad Lundahl double. Lee later scored on Freddie Freeman ground out, allowing the Braves takes the lead 1-0.

Lake County managed to tie the game during the fifth. Richard Martinez got a base hit, advanced to second on a wild pitch by Richard Sullivan. Martinez got to third on a Samuel Sime catching error. Martinez scored on a Mark Thompson single, making the score 1-1.

The Braves took the lead again 2-1 in the sixth after Samuel Sime got on with a single and later scored on a Michael Fisher double. Rome gained insurance runs in eighth when Freddie Freeman tripled and scored on a Cody Johnson homerun (22). Johnson is now tied with former Rome Brave Eric Campbell for the most homeruns in a single season.

Benino Pruneda (4-4) gets the win for the Braves while Mike Pontius (1-1) is tagged with the loss. Tommy Palica earns his eighth save.
