February 19, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Toledo Walleye News Release
(Greenville, SC)- Kyle Rogers scored with just six seconds left in overtime to propel Toledo to a 2-1 win. Toledo is 23-24-2-2 on the season and 11-12-2-0 away from home.
In the first, Greenville would collect the lone goal at 12:44 of the period when Brent Cornelius beat Alec Richards. The Road Warriors outshot the Walleye 15-10 in the first period. "We really had to improve our defensive coverage tonight to avoid a repeat of Friday," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We did a much better job of clogging things up and not let them get going offensively. Unfortunatly we couldn't get our offense on track."
Toledo outshot Greenville 13-7 in the second period but could not tie the game. Joey Martin would tie the game at a goal piece with an unassisted goal at 10:40 of the third. Toledo would collect the win at 4:54 of overtime when Kyle Rogers beat BJ Obrien between the pads. Kyle Page collected the lone assist on Rogers's 18th goal of the season.
Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Alec Richards finished with 35 saves and has a record of 5-1-0-0 on the season. Toledo stopped all three of Greenville's power play chances. The Road Warriors came into to the game as the top power play unit in the ECHL.
