Rogers Lifts Toledo to 2-1 Overtime Win

(Greenville, SC)- Kyle Rogers scored with just six seconds left in overtime to propel Toledo to a 2-1 win. Toledo is 23-24-2-2 on the season and 11-12-2-0 away from home.

In the first, Greenville would collect the lone goal at 12:44 of the period when Brent Cornelius beat Alec Richards. The Road Warriors outshot the Walleye 15-10 in the first period. "We really had to improve our defensive coverage tonight to avoid a repeat of Friday," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We did a much better job of clogging things up and not let them get going offensively. Unfortunatly we couldn't get our offense on track."

Toledo outshot Greenville 13-7 in the second period but could not tie the game. Joey Martin would tie the game at a goal piece with an unassisted goal at 10:40 of the third. Toledo would collect the win at 4:54 of overtime when Kyle Rogers beat BJ Obrien between the pads. Kyle Page collected the lone assist on Rogers's 18th goal of the season.

Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Alec Richards finished with 35 saves and has a record of 5-1-0-0 on the season. Toledo stopped all three of Greenville's power play chances. The Road Warriors came into to the game as the top power play unit in the ECHL.

The Toledo Walleye will return home for game on February 24th, and February 25th to play the Wheeling Nailers. Friday night the Walleye will welcome former Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty to the Huntington Center! The game on the 25th is NASCAR Night Presented by Nationwide Insurance, The AOK Insurance & Financial Services Agency.
