Offensive Funk Continues as Colorado Goes Winless in California

Colorado Eagles News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder topped the Colorado Eagles, 3-1, ending their busy week of five games in six days with its third consecutive loss -- all in the state of California. Colorado has failed to score a goal in six of the nine periods during the losing streak, and registered no even strength goals in the past two games.
Unlike their previous three games, the Eagles were able to take a lead into the first period of play thanks to a power-play goal at 18:35 of the initial frame. Kevin Ulanski picked up his second man-advantage marker in as many days against the Thunder by deflecting an Aaron Schneekloth point shot from the doorstep.
It was that same Eagles power play that came back to bite them in the second period at the end of a long shift. On the play, Matt Foy stole the puck along the right mid-boards in Colorado's zone, skated toward the crease and pushed home his own rebound over Robby Nolan's left pad to tie the game at 1 at the 7:21 mark.
At 5:31 of the third period, Chris D'Alvise split the Eagles' defenders and beat Nolan, 5-hole, with a backhand shot from the low slot, accounting for the game-winner and the only even strength goal of the game.
Colorado had a golden opportunity to counter with a power play a minute and a half later, but Olivier Roy continued to shut the door on the Eagles' offense. And in the final minute, with Nolan on the bench for an extra attacker while the Thunder worked a power play of their own, Kevin Baker iced the contest with an empty-netter from center ice.
The Eagles will close out February's schedule with three games against the Ontario Reign at the Budweiser Events Center Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.
