Bakersfield Condors News Release
ANCHORAGE, AK - LW Evan Trupp scored twice and C Robby Dee scored a third period goal for the Bakersfield Condors (14-33-4-1, 33pts), but it was not enough as the Alaska Aces (34-14-2-4, 74pts) pushed past the Condors for a 9-4 victory at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night.
Alaska raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first 8:35 with goals from C Brian Swanson and a power-play goal from F Wes Goldie. The Condors cut the deficit in half on their second shot of the game as Trupp went five-hole through the legs of Aces G Adam Courchaine at 10:59 to make it 2-1. The Aces responded with two more though within the next three minutes as F Ethan Cox and F Blair Yaworski each potted goals to extend Alaska's lead to 4-1. Yaworksi's goal was the end of the night for Condors G Matt Keetley. Trupp would once again cut into the lead with his second of the night at 15:17 to make it 4-2. F Nick Mazzolini would regain the three-goal advantage at 16:32 to make the intermission scoreline, 5-2.
Bakersfield went on the offensive early in the second period and it led to a tally. At 8:12, D Ryan Annesley finished off an odd-man rush to trim the Alaska lead to 5-3. The Aces took a three-goal lead once again though, 6-3, 18:39 into the period, as Yaworksi scored his second of the night. The Condors outshot the Aces, 12-5.
Dee made it a two-goal hockey game once again at 6-4 scoring on a breakaway at 6:49 of the third period after receiving a great stretch pass from D Tyson Gimblett. G Bryan Pitton denied Cox on a penalty shot 10:16, but the Aces exploded late for three goals, including two more from Goldie to take a 9-4 win.
