New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) The Boulders rallied to take the lead after trailing 6-1 but could not hold on to the lead as Worcester beats Rockland 11-7.

It seemed as Worcester had the game on lock as catcher Alex Trezza hit two early home runs including a fifth inning grand slam to push the Tornadoes ahead 6-1.

The Boulders would respond in the sixth. With two outs, Worcester starter Phil Negus would walk the next four Rockland batters to bring in a run and keep the bases loaded. Matt Nandin would give the Boulders a spark with a single that scored both Ryan Scoma and Orlando Mercado. After a pitching change and a balk that would bring in Cole Kraft, left fielder Jon Smith singled to knock in Nandin. Chris Valencia would cap off the six-run inning with a double to bring home Smith.

But the Tornadoes would not be denied as Worcester scored three runs in the top of the eighth that would be the difference in the game. Nick Salotti would start off the inning with a home run off of Boulders reliever Chris Rubio to tie the game. The Tornadoes offense would then score two more runs on sacrifice fly's to make the tally 9-7.

Worcester added two more in the top of the ninth to make the final score 11-7. The Boulders take on the Tornadoes again tomorrow night at 7:05 on 80's night at Provident Bank Park.
