Worcester 11, Rockland 7
The Worcester Tornados put together a strong finish with five runs in the last two innings to beat the Rockland Boulders 11-7. Down 7-6 in the eighth inning, Worcester 1B Nick Salotti started the rally with a lead-off home run. 3B Johnny Welch walked in the next at bat and scored when SS Tony Patane tripled. Patane score on a sac fly from LF Brendon Keliher. The Tornados tacked on two more on a double from Welch in the ninth. C Alex Trezza had two homeruns earlier in the game and racked up five RBI. For the Boulders 1B/RF Ryan Scoma had a nice night at the plate and was 3-for-4 with an RBI. P Nick Serino picked up the win for 2.1 innings of relief.
Grand Prairie 8, Newark 3
The Grand Prairie AirHogs topped the Newark Bears in an inter-league game 8-3 with the help of a strong night from C Chris McMurray. McMurray was 3-for-4 with four RBI including a two-run homerun in the fourth inning. DH Brian Myrow followed suit with a two-run shot of his own in the fifth. SS Yasutsugu Nishimoto was 2-for-3 and scored once for the AirHogs. The AirHogs put the game out of reach with three more runs in the seventh. P Nick Debarr was the winning pitcher after seven innings of six-hit work. He gave up three earned runs and struckout four batters.
New Jersey 3, Quebec 2
The New Jersey Jackals rode a pair of RBI from RF Carlos Guzman to top the Quebec Capitales 3-2. Guzman was 2-for-3 on the day starting with an RBI single in the bottom of the first to give the Jackals a 2-1 lead. Jackals SS Angel Berroa also had two hits in the game including an RBI single earlier in the first inning. Guzman doubled home 3B Nick Giarraputo in the sixth to score the difference making run. For the Capitales, 1B Rene Leveret had a team-high two hits, half of the teams four hits in the game, and one RBI. P Craig Clark picked up the win for six innings of three-hit ball. Clark allowed two runs, one earned, and struck out three.
Rockland 3, Worcester 2
The Boulders and Tornadoes played 10 innings of deadlocked baseball Saturday. But in the bottom of the 11th, Rockland Ryan Scoma doubled to open the bottom of the frame, coming around to score three batters later on an Orlando Mercado fielder's choice to win the game. Scoma went 2-for-5 on the night. Pitching the 10th and 11th, Boulders starter Adrian Martin earned the win, allowing only one hit with a strikeout to match. Tornadoes C Alex Trezza scored both of his club's runs on solo homers, but the rest of the team managed only four hits. Trezza finished the game 2-for-4.
Quebec 4, New Jersey 3
The Jackals tied the score at three in the bottom of the ninth. But after four innings of scoreless, free baseball, the Capitales went back on top thanks to a Jonathan Malo homer, giving them a 4-3 victory. Malo's homer was his third of the year, and the third baseman finished the game 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI. The Jackals' game-tying run came on a solo shot, as well, when Nick Giarraputo hit his ninth blast of the year. Giarraputo went 2-for-6 and is batting .407 on the year. Capitales reliever Dexter Bobo earned his first win of the year, throwing 1.2 innings and struck out two batters while surrendering only one hit and a walk.
