
Rockies, Mustangs Split Twin Bill

After having their season long 6-game win streak snapped with a 7-2 loss to the Billings Mustangs in game 1 of a doubleheader Thursday at Suplizio, the Grand Junction Rockies came back and won the second game 8-3.
Javier Palacios evened his record at 4-4 by holding the Mustangs to a run in five innings. Dom Nunez led the charge at the plate with two hits and a key two run double that grew the Rockies lead to 7-3 in the sixth.
Forrest Wall hit his second home run of the season as part of a 2-hit night, while Nate Causey finished 1-for-1 with two walks and three runs scored.
In game 1, the Mustangs broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning by batting around and plating five runs. Yonathan Daza finished with three hits in three at bats, but the rest of the Rockies were held to just four base hits.
Jimmy Pickens, Garrett Boulware, and Alex Greer had two hits for the Mustangs.
The split gets the Rockies to 11-6 in the second half, two games up on Ogden and Idaho Falls with 21 games to play.
