MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula's first doubleheader of 2014 saw a home run battle won by Missoula in game one and a pitching duel in game two taken by Ogden.

In the opener of two seven-inning contests, Missoula launched the long ball early with Stewart Ijames delivering his eighth shot in the first inning to plate two runs. Missoula took liftoff again in the second inning when Dane McFarland knocked a solo blast over left field. The Osprey's final run came in the fifth inning when Taylor Ard drove in Fernery Ozuna off a double to left field.

The debut of second round pick Cody Reed with the O's was a success with three shutout innings and only one base runner allowed with a first inning single from Mike Ahmed. Reed struck out two batters without a walk.

Gabriel Moya (3-4) got the win with one run across in three innings. Out of his five hits allowed, only the Brian Wolfe home run came across the plate.

Julian Leon homered off closer Brody Greer in the seventh but the righty would battle back and pick up his eighth save of the summer.

In game two, Missoula (9-9, 26-30) could only push one run across in a 3-1 setback when Yosbel Gutierrez scored off a wild pitch in the fifth inning. The O's tallied just five hits with Gutierrez and Sergio Alcantara each owning two.

Missoula starter Tyler Bolton (5-4) did not receive support from his offense in his loss. He went 4.2 innings and gave up one earned run off five hits. Bolton walked two and struck out five batters. Will Landsheft and Anthony Bazzani also tossed in relief for the O's, with Bazzani picking up two strikeouts in a hitless appearance.

Ogden (9-8, 24-31) scored a run in the fourth through sixth innings and had six hits in the game. Starter Abdiel Velasquez went 4.1 innings and one earned run off three hits. In relief, Brock Stewart (1-2) got his first win in 2.2 innings and no runs off two hits.

Missoula takes the series over Ogden and continues its seven-game homestand tomorrow with a four-game series against Idaho Falls at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all Osprey games are available at the MSO Hub Box Office, by phone at (406) 543-3300 and online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
