Great Falls Voyagers News Release

After taking two of three in Orem, the Voyagers continue their road trip with the opener of a four-game series in Grand Junction against the Rockies.

Great Falls Voyagers (7-11, 30-26) at Grand Junction Rockies (11-6, 34-21)

RHP Luis Martinez (1-1, 1.80) vs. LHP Harrison Musgrave (2-2, 5.06)

6:35 p.m. - Suplizio Field, Grand Junction, Colo.

OWLZ AVOID SWEEP

The Voyagers gave up a late lead Thursday, as Orem avoided a sweep with a 5-3 win at Brent Brown Ballpark. Pitching dominated early on both sides, as neither team scored until the sixth. In the top of the sixth, an Owlz error gave Great Falls a run to break the scoreless deadlock. Later in the frame, Dillon Haupt and Louie Lechich each drove in a run with a single to make it 3-0. Orem scored two in the bottom of the inning, then went ahead for good in the seventh on a two-run single by Caleb Adams.

THOMPSON BOUNCES BACK

After giving up six runs, three earned, in his last start, Voyager righty Zach Thompson got back on track last night, giving Great Falls five scoreless innings. A fifth round pick by the White Sox this year, Thompson tied his career-high with four strikeouts, and lowered his ERA to 3.51 which would be the fourth best in the Pioneer League if he qualified.

THE SAN DIEGO CONNECTION

University of San Diego products Dillon Haupt and Louie Lechich have been leading the way offensively so far for Great Falls on this road trip. A 2013 draftee, Haupt set a new career-high with four hits last night, and is 7-12 with a homer and a pair of runs batted in on the trip, while Lechich is 6-13 in the first three games of the trip, including a career-high tying three hits and three runs scored on Wednesday. A 2014 draft pick of the White Sox, Lechich has also homered on the trip, and scored six of the Voyagers 17 runs.

UP NEXT: GRAND JUNCTION

Great Falls continues their seven-game road trip tonight with the opener of a four-game series at Suplizio Field against the Grand Junction Rockies. These two teams met three times last weekend at Centene Stadium, with Grand Junction sweeping the Voyagers. In 2013, Great Falls took two of the three road meetings with the Rockies.
