Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Grand Junction combined for eleven runs in the final three innings in its 12-2 victory over Orem to split a two-game series at Suplizio Field Friday night.

Yolki Pena opened the scoring for the Rockies with his first home run of the year - a solo shot to right field to give Grand Junction a 1-0 lead. After Orem tied the game in the fourth, the Rox began an offensive onslaught that started with Christian Koss drawing a bases-loaded walk followed by a pair of Owlz errors that allowed the Rockies to score four in the sixth.

Cristopher Navarro's RBI single and two more RBI from Koss highlighted the seventh with a pair of triples from Colin Simpson and Walking Cabrera leading the charge in the eighth.

Rockies' starter Alex Haynes set the tone early and dominated his three scoreless innings of work while allowing just two base runners and striking out nine. In relief, Miguel Ausua allowed just one run in five innings to earn his third win of the season and help push Grand Junction back to .500.

Darrien Williams took the loss for Orem after allowing three runs on five hits in 2.1 innings and was one of three Owlz pitchers to allow three or more runs on the night.

For the first time this season, the Rockies travel to Orem to begin a three- game series with Mitchell Kilkenny starting game one for Grand Junction and Yoel De Leon on the hill for the home team.
