Ryon Healy's bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth inning broke a 1-1 tie as the RockHounds defeated the Arkansas Travelers, 4-1, Saturday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The 'Hounds had missed back-to-back scoring opportunities with the bases loaded early in the game (second and third innings) before Healy took reliever D.J. Johnson's first pitch to deep left field with the bases full in the ninth. Viosergy Rosa's one-out double started the rally, with Beau Taylor and J.P Sportman drawing walks to load the bases. Danny Oh struck out (after fouling off four, two-strike pitches) before Healy, who earned Texas League Postseason All-Star team honors with the championship club last season, then delivered the game winner.

RockHounds starter Daniel Mengden was outstanding, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out eight. After an infield single (compounded by a throwing error) gave the Travelers a runner in scoring position with no outs in the second, the former Texas A&M star struck out the next three batters ... on nine pitches. Reliever Aaron Kurcz, who spent last season at the Double-A and Triple-A levels with Atlanta and Oakland, respectively, pitched two perfect innings (striking out four) for the win.

Matt Chapman broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run leading off the sixth. Ironically, while he had the game's only error (on a throw that sailed high on an infield hit), the 'Hounds' third baseman also recorded at least five outstanding plays at the hot corner.

With the win, the RockHounds captured the first series of the season, taking two-of-three from the Travelers in the cross-division set.
