Rockford Aviators News Release

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Normal's Ryan Demmin hurled a complete game, 1-hit shut out and knocked off the Rockford Aviators (9-28), presented by Pearson, 3-0 on Saturday night.

The Aviators only hit of the night came via Michael Hur's leadoff double to left-center in the fifth inning. Had he hit the ball five feet to the right, the pearl would have cleared an 8-foot fence instead of ricocheting off the 16-foot frame that guards left field.

Demmin fanned 11 batters during his nine innings of work and allowed only three walks. He faced two batters beyond the minimum. Derrick Stultz, while falling to 0-2 on the season, pitched his second consecutive quality start. He gave up three runs in six innings and struck out six CornBelters. Nicholas Grim pitched three shutout innings of relief in his Aviators' debut.

The series finale is set for Sunday afternoon at 5:05 p.m. on YMCA Family Day at Aviators Stadium. Fans can also play catch in the outfield prior to the game from 4-4:30, sponsored by Q 98.5.
